1-3 WEEKS

The first 3 weeks have been amazing! He is such a good little baby and Austin and I cannot get enough of him. He is so sweet and I know we are spoiling him because we rarely put him down. I now know what people mean when they say newborns are hard work. The first week was a breeze, but then the fatigue and the sleep deprivation really set in. We had a couple of sleepless nights in the second week, which made it really hard, but other than that, he's been a really good sleeper. There is nothing in my entire life that I have ever done that has been as significant as this. I feel the most tender love for him and I can't imagine missing one minute of his life. Austin and I will literally just sit and stare at him, in between kissing him that is. At his 2 week appointment he weighed 4 lbs and 15 oz!!! That's up from 4 lbs and 8 oz at his 4 day old appointment. Now at 3 1/2 weeks, I can tell he's gained even more weight and I can't wait to see how much. He has gotten great use out of all his newborn clothes and we've gone through almost all of the newborn diapers that were given to us at baby showers. I have really loved having this prolonged tiny newborn stage.

At 1 week old we did a newborn photo shoot of course. I love all the pictures, but here are some of my favorites...

HE'S HERE!!!

Well, the little stinker couldn't wait 3 more weeks and surprised us at 37 weeks. Surprised is an understatement! On Thursday night, I came home at about 9:30 pm from a baby shower that my ward threw me. I went to bed around 10:30 pm, after preparing for work the next day. At about 11:30 pm, I got up to use the bathroom and my water broke!!! At first I was in denial and shock. I went into the bathroom and convinced myself that my water didn't just break. When I came out of the bathroom, I told Austin that I thought my water broke but I wasn't sure. He told me to call my mom. I called my mom around midnight and she told me to go straight to the hospital. So, with shaky hands and being scared to death, I told Austin it was time to go. We went to the hospital and they checked me in just after midnight. My contractions started and by 2:30 am I was ready for my epidural. After the epidural I was in heaven and it was smooth sailing from that point on. I rested and slept as much as I could and poor Austin tried to sleep on the pull out bed. At about 4:00 or 4:30 am the nurse came in and told me I was dialated to a 3.5. The doctor came in shortly after that and told me that he estimated I would give birth around noon, so I settled in for a long night/day ahead. Little Trevor had other plans. At around 7:30 am the nurse came in and checked me again, informing me that I was fully dialated. I asked her what that meant and she said...that means it's time to push. I just remember giggling and laughing a lot because this was my first time and it was all happening so fast. The nurses and staff were so amazing and Dr. Lamoreaux was awesome. I pushed for about 20 to 30 minutes and then little Trevor made his appearance. IT WAS AMAZING! Thanks goodness for modern medicine. Because of the epidural, I was able to enjoy the experience from beginning to end. Trevor came out crying, but they cleaned him up and placed him in my arms and I was instantly in love. I couldn't remember life without him anymore. Austin's heart melted as well and on Friday, April 6th, 2012 we both became the proud parents of Trevor Austin Lux. He weighed a tiny 4 pounds and 13 ounces and measured 17.5 inches long.  He is perfect. The poor thing had low blood sugars and had to be taken to the NICU for 2 days to get them under control. It was the best feeling ever to get to take him home with us on Sunday.

I can hardly take my eyes off of him.

He seriously fell asleep like that!

It's true when people tell you that you don't know what love is until you have a child. We are literally in love with this little guy. He has changed our lives for the better forever. Being a little older, we are so ready for this new life. I know that there are hard times ahead, but for now, I'm going to enjoy every last minute of this newborn stage.

35 WEEKS

At 35 weeks pregnant, I decided to get maternity photos done and I am SO glad I did. It was so much fun and I love the way they all turned out. I can honestly say that I've enjoyed most of this pregnancy...most being the operative word. Around week 34 things started to get a little more miserable. I literally went from feeling great to feeling horrible over night. So, to have my hair and make-up professionaly done and get a professional photo shoot at 35 weeks when I'm feeling not-so-cute and be made to feel beautiful again was a big deal. I love all the pictures, but here are some of my favorites.

It was so fun to have Austin there and I think the photographer (Julie Burton) did a great job of capturing our excitement and our tender feelings that we arlready have for our unborn child. I am so excited to meet this little guy who has made it a little more difficult for me to breathe and sleep, lol. I know it's all worth it!!

30 WEEKS!!!

Can you believe I am 30 weeks along??!!! Because I sure can't. I remember being 10 weeks along and now I only have 10 weeks left until my due date....eeeekkk! The good thing is, I feel great. Other than a few aches and pains...and having to go to the bathroom literally every 5 minutes...I am really enjoying the experience. Believe me, I am so glad that I am saying that, because I always thought that I would be one of those girls who hated being pregnant. Don't get me wrong, I don't want to be pregnant forever, lol, but I can honestly say that the experience has been a good one and I truly have tried to enjoy and cherish this time. I look at it like, it took me a really long time to get pregnant and who knows if I ever will be again, so this 9 months really is a fleeting thing in the scheme of things.

THE BEST THINGS:
I love seeing my belly grow even though I don't feel sexy at all.
Feeling him and SEEING him move around is the most amazing feeling! I think I will miss it when it's over.
Getting good advice from my family and friends.
Seeing my young women get excited when they see me and my belly coming.
The cute comments from kids...for example: My friend Michelle's daughter who is 4 asked her out of the blue one day if she was going to marry my baby. LOL!!!! Oh how I love kids.
Feeling an incredible amount of love for a baby I haven't even met yet.

My friends threw me a baby shower a couple of weeks ago and it was so fun! It was really great to see friends I haven't seen in a long time come and support me. I was completely spoiled by everyone and feel much more prepared now. Thanks to all who participated!!!

Austin and I know someone who does ultrasounds, so a couple of days ago we were able to go and get a 3D ultrasound of the baby. At first he wouldn't cooperate and had both of his hands over his face, but after a while he finally brought them down and we were able to get some great shots, especially of his profile. The picture below is the last and best one that we were able to get. I can't stop looking at it! I can't describe the tender sweet feeling I get when I look at the photo's. I am so overwhelmed with joy! All I want to do is hold on to these feelings as long as I can.
